Hi Friends

Today we are tackling alternative to soda. Sodas are bad for you, no matter how you look at it. They are filled with sugar, sodium, chemicals that we do not need in our diet. Finding satisfying replacement drinks makes dropping the habit that much easier. 


Here's a list of fun soda alternatives. Skipping over the basics ice tea and lemonade, most of these alternative are low in calories and sugar, but are as satisfying as a refreshing soda pop.

Soda is pretty much sugar and water, there is no nutritional value what-so-ever.

Too much sugar can lead to liver toxicity

Soda can decays teeth

All sodas (diet soda included) can increase your risk of a heart attack

Excessive soda intake can lead to obesity and diabetes

Danish researchers have discovered that drinking non-diet soda leads to dramatic increase in fat build up around your liver and skeletal muscles, both can contribute to insulin resistance and diabetes





Researchers from the University of Texas Health Science Center monitored 475 adults for 10 years and found those who drank diet soda had a 70% increase in waist circumference over the 10 year study compared to those who didn't drink any soda

In 2011 the non profit Center for Science in the Public Interest petitioned the Food and Drug Administration to BAN the artificial caramel coloring used to make Coke, Pepsi, and other brown sodas. 2-Methylimidazole & 4-Methylimidazole have been found to cause cancer in animals

All Colas, diet and regular, contain phosphates or phosphoric acids too much phosphoric acid can lead to heart and kidney problem, muscle loss, osteoporosis, and can also trigger accelerated aging

Steaz Sparkling Green Tea

Steaz Sparkling Green Tea is loaded with antioxidants, sweetened with steavia and erythritol, a natural sugar alcohol, Steaz is also fortified with vitamin B12. B12 helps improve your mood, energy level and "mental fog" 

Reed's Light Ginger Beer
Ginger beer is a great home remedy for nausea, upset stomachs, and sore muscles. The company has just introduced a new "light" version of the product that contains only 55 calories per bottle and is sweetened with honey and stevia

Virgils Root Beer

Made by brewing herbs and spices naturally, with ingredients like anise from Spain, Vanilla from Madagascar, molasses from US, balsam oil from Peru, it sounds like an international treat. 
**This product can be high in calories and sugar

Bionade

Naturally fermented drink made from malt and water, 60 calories and 14 grams of sugar, this soda is hard to find because it is a German brand, but it is very popular in Europe. The company even rejected a take over by Coca-Cola

Oogave

A certified organic soda and an honest to goodness organic cola alternative. They feature fun flavors like Strawberry, rhubarb, and mandarin key-lime. All sodas contain1/2 the sugar and none of their products exceeds 100 calories per bottle


GT Enlightened Organic Raw Kombucha

Kombucha is tea that's been fermented with probiotic culture, the end product is a low in sugar drink that is full of healthy bacteria that aids digestion and wards off infection. These products contain 4grams of sugar and 60 calories per bottle

Hot Lips Soda

This brands soda line up changes with seasons based on whats locally available. The company takes fruit, cooks it, adds water and cane sugar. The calorie count ranges form 120-160 calories
